Celine refers to a deluxe LVMH fashion label which was founded in 1947 as a a children's Shoe store. Celine is a French upscale fashion label that has been around for more that 60 ye ars which was founded by Celine Vipiana.
During the 1950s, it began producing leather goods and accessories, and it was not until 1959 that a womenswear initiative was launched and it was another three (3) years later that the Celine started to adorn their store with shoes, accessories and, of course, handbags. Celine finery has adorned the most chic ladies ever since.

Celine established stores around the world in the 1970s, and launched its line of fragrances in 1996.

In 1997, Michael Kors became Celine's chief designer of the ready-to-wear womenswear Une - the first ever and its creative director in 1999. Under Michael Kors leadership, Celine became renowned for super-charged, ultra-luxurious womenswear. Sales in the brand's 100 stores worldwide shot up to a record high.However, he left Celine in 2004 after the end of his contract.

Aftre Kors' contract, a designer Roberto Menichetti step into his shoes. Menichetti was first discovered by Claude Montana. He has an impressive career history including working both with Jil Sander and an artistic director role at Burberry. His own label, Menichetti was launched in New York in February 2004, and his first collection for Celine hit the stores for spring/summer 2005; Menichetti has set tongues wagging with his experimental and streamlined vision of what the Celine customer should be wearing - a dramatic departure from Kors's glamour-puss aesthetic. He struggles a year as a head designer and was replaced by Ivana Omazic as a creative director

In September 2008, Celine announced that ex-Chloe visionary Phoebe Philo would step in to take the reins, beginning with a fall 2009 collection.

In 1998, the American Michael Kors was appointed chief designer of the ready-to-wear womenswear Une - the first ever -and in 1999 he went onto become the company's creative director.
