Qiviut refers to a fiber that is obtained from the Arctic Musk Ox. Moreover, Qiviut refers to the underhair of the Muskox that is woven into articles of clothingt. Qiviut comes from the Eskimo word which means "down".

Muskox refers to a a large, shaggy looking arctic animal that is part of the same family as sheep and goats. Its hair is used by Inupiaq to weave very warm clothing.

Inupiaq is a group of Native Americans that is commonly referred to as Eskimos.
