Toga refers to the most important garment in ancient Rome, it was a piece of woollen material Draped elaborately around the body.. Different coloured stripes indicated some a particul ar government office or position of respect.

Notes: In the Philippines, a Toga is used during high school graduation, a completion of 4 years of study and college graduation, a completion of the last 4 years of study. High School Toga is always in pure white, and college Toga is in black with different colors on the sleeves and hem to represent the course taken. As of 2009, I lost any knowledge if Toga is still being used during these important occassions and I also do not know where we inherited this practice of wearing a Toga.
