Vent is a term used since the 15th century referring to vertical slits in garments (sides of the shirts, Hem of the jacket), usually from the Hem toward the waist. Used in coats, glov es, jackets, shirts, and suit coats.

A Vent is the slit or two (2) slits that appear at the bottom of the back of a jacket or blazer. Likewise, a slit especially on the legs of boxer shorts, that provides more freedom of movement.
