Hauberk refers to a piece of defensive armor, for neck and shoulders at first, but soon developed into a long Mail shirt or military tunic. Hauberk is a knee length shirt made from ma il.
The Hauberk is a shirt of mail (weighing about 14 kilos) or leather. Slits are found in the front and back below the waist to straddle a horse and ride, and it almost always had sleeves. The sleeves would extend to mid-way down the forearm. These shirts were put on over the head. Chainmail was made of interlocking metal rings and was flexible like cloth.
