At the age of 18, he moved to new York and enrolled Parsons School of Design where he studied and took several internships but later dropped out.
In 2005, he already designed his first collection of his own label "Alexander Wang" mostly made of knits.
In 2007, he launched his first women's collection which was sold in over 200 retail stores and boutiques worldwide. This collection embodies casually cool downtown style, drawing inspiration from the eighties, French chic, and rock grunge. He popularized sexy grunge with muse, stylist and BFF (best friend forever) Erin Wasson.
In 2008, he launched his accessories collection (handbags, shoes). Also in the same year, he won the prestigious Vogue/CFDA Fund accompanied by $20,000 award to expand one's business.
In 2009 only at 25 years, he was announced as the winner of CFDA Swarovski Women's Designer of the Year. Also, in this year (2009) Wang launched a diffusion line of pre-weathered cotton tees, tanks, and T-shirt dresses by his own label named T by Alexander Wang, as well as a footwear collection of towering platform sandals

My favorite!
Shoes: Alexander Wang Krystle Sandal They have a high platform and a high wooden heel, which add to the sexiness and neutrality of the shoe. The knotted leather detailing is fun, but adds some sophistication. The hint of silver leather over the toes is an added surprise and adds some flirty edginess.
Among his bags, I like his latest Spring 2009 Hobo Denim Bag, it reminds me of ma childhood when we cut out old denim pants to make a denim bag.
For his Fall 2009 collection, I love his mix of black jackets and leggings partnered with boots. I love leggings and ankle boots and black. I love this look!
