Ann-Sofie Back refers to a Swedish-born fashion designer.
Ann-Sofie Back graduated Fashion Design from Beckmans College of Art and Design in Stockholm, then she continued her educat ion at Central Saint Martins College in London, from which she graduated in 1998.

Before launching her own line in 2001, she worked with Joe Casely Hayford while also acting as a contributing Fashion Editor for Self Service and Purple magazine in Paris and Dazed & Confused in London.

Ann-Sofie Back launched her self-titled collection at Paris Fashion Week in 2001 and since then, she became a regular fixture on the London Fashion Week where she presents seasonal collections from her main line, plus BACK by Ann-Sofie Back, a diffusion range reflecting her love of playful silhouettes and a dark and humorous aesthetic, at a more accessible price point.

For nearly a decade, Back has explored the way in which human beings use clothing to disguise themselves, rejecting the premise that every day garments share a commonality of purpose.

For Spring/Summer 2009, she combined sophistication with humour, inspired by celebrity obsession. She used plastic surgery and liposuction as an unlikely point of reference. A series of disco dresses are cut and stretched with drawstrings resembling the processes involved in a face-lift, while clasps are based on the staples used to hold skin in place during recovery. Frills were also used throughout the collection which are traditionally used as a device to create a sense of youthfulness, however, the frills were broken signifying Back's observation of failed glamour. They were produced in black and grey in a performance cupro fabric in dresses, skirts and tops.

For her Autumn/Winter 2009 collection, she used horror movies as her reference, films like Poltergeist, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Halloween, Carrie, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Evil Dead among others. She presented clothes (shirts, skirts, vests, dresses and jeans) which were slashed and ripped and dream-catcher inspired dresses and t-shirts, jersey tops, skirts and jewellery. Feathers and pearl details tie in with the Indian inspiration and were featured heavily throughout her collection.

After ten years (10) of being based in London, Ann-Sofie Back got married, returned to Stockholm, and added a new design responsibility, not only is she doing her eponymous line, but she signed up to be the Creative Director of Cheap Monday in May 2009 and in July also of the same year, she unveiled her first collection for the brand for Spring 2010 in Stockholm. Cheap Monday is , a Swedish brand which is renowned for their low cost clothing, hence the name

Among her celebrity fans are Lady Gaga, Pixie Geldof, Kristen Stewart and Daisy Lowe
