Embellishment refers to a superfluous ornament; that which adds beauty or elegance. It is an ornament; decoration that is used to beautify an object, like bags, shoes, dresses, belts and oth er fashion accessories, even headbands. From shiny baubles to sparkling jewels and ethnic touches, trimmings like these are adorning fashionable feet, stylist clothes, colorful bags, etc. everywhere, not only in this 20th century, but also in some centuries back.

Embellishments used are shiny baubles, sparkling jewels appliques, rhinestones, colorful beads, sequins, buckles, buttons, bows, embroidery, fabric paint, fringe, laces and other materials used as ornaments. Filigree is also delicate and intricate ornamentation used in jewelry (usually in gold or silver or other fine twisted wire).
