Satin
Satin is a woven fabric with a weave and glossy finish, slippery feel and a lustrous texture that can be made of silk or synthetics. The finish is achieved by heat treatment, resulti ng in fabric with a high sheen face and matt reverse side. Often but not exclusively made from silk, modern alternatives include rayon. Moreover, Satin is a silk fabric featuring a sateen weave in several variations. Possessing extreme luster, satins lend themselves to women's evening wear and lingerie as well as the most luxurious sheets. Satin which comes in silk or polyester is a traditional and most popular fabric for evening and wedding garments/gowns. Typical examples of satin weave fabrics include: slipper satin, crepe-back satin, faille satin, bridal satin, moleskin, and royal satin.
